  • ¾ cup butter, softened
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp cloves
  • icing to decorate (optional)
